Item Description
A showy and excellent sawed and polished datolite nodule pair from the obscure Mandan Mine of Michigan"s Copper Country. The slices have high luster and a nice porcelaneous texture. The thick rind is creamy-white and surrounds a translucent, grayish-green core. The interior is beautifully accented with veins and stringers of rust-red copper. This is high quality, classic Michigan Copper Country material. This mine closed in 1909 and this nodule obviously came from the dumps. They are hard to get and are highly desirable. A fine quality duplicate from the well-known Michigan suite of the Robert Nowakowski Collection # 127.
