Item Description

An impressive large polished rich yellow datolite nodule embedded in basalt matrix from the Mesnard Mine of Michigan's Copper Country. The datolite has high lustre, translucence and fine porcelaineous texture. The rare yellow interior with red stringers and a thin red band around the yellow interior are the result of copper inclusions. Yellow and red are THE most desirable colors for Michigan datolite nodules. Quality is off the charts. The mine dumps are well-known for producing exceptional datolite specimens, such as this. Ex Robert Nowakowski Collection, specialized in Michigan classics.
