Datolite crystals and casts after Anhydrite (ex Richard A. Kosnar collection)

Item Description

The Braen's Quarry in New Jersey has been a seldom collected quarry for years, but has been a source of excellent Zeolite specimens and associated species. This piece features no Zeolites, but does hosts lovely "water green" color crystals of Datolite measuring up to 4 mm. The crystals have sharp faces, along with good gemminess and luster. Additionally, the specimen is filled with sculptural, sharp, blocky, hollow, striated "casts" of Datolite after Anhdyrite, which is not terribly common in my experience with Datolite from Braen's. A wonderful example of this classic Trap Rock material. From the famous trap rock collection of Rich Kosnar, and one of the last pieces he acquired befor he died.
