Datolite - classic fine crystals, old locale

Charcas, a well-known locality in Mexico, has produced some of the finest, yet somehow lesser-known, Datolites in the world. The gentle mint-green color combined with glassy luster and good form, as you see here, made many of these instant classics. Add to it that there is good translucense and the largest crystal is 7 cm makes this attractive on several levels. It is geometrically dramatic and important for the location. This cabinet specimen is contacted in the back, and the entire presentation side is excellent. Many of these quality, hard-to-find blue-green Datolites from Charcas probably came out in the 1960s-1970s. Formerly in the Al Jehle collection. Valued $1250-1500
