Item Description
An adorable and uncommon elongated spray of glassy, sharp, lustrous, gemmy to water clear, thin, prismatic, colorless/white crystals with textbook chisel terminations. The two largest opposing crystals measure about 2.2 cm. Gemmy danburite crystals are a Mexican classic. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5729 and acquired from the Bourget brothers in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A large percentage of the danburites from Charcas are single crystals or possibly a pair of intergrown crystals, but to have a showy "burst" of crystals like this is rare in my experience. A real cutie.
