Item Description

When it comes to Danburite, there aren't a lot of localities around the world where fine crystals are found, but there is no argument that the finest crystals of Danburite in the world are those from Charcas. These crystals are large, often water-clear with high luster and are simply a classic from Mexico. This specimen is a wonderful example at it features a pair of fine quality, very glassy, razor-sharp prismatic crystals of Danburite with wonderful textbook chisel-shaped terminations. The crystals are a VERY pale pink color (virtually colorless) which is a quintessential attribute of this fantastic material. The added bonus on this specimen is that there are a few sharp, gemmy, colorless scalenohedral Calcite crystals flaring off the side of the piece, which is rare in my experience this material. No major damage, save the base of the specimen where it was removed from the pocket wall. Valued at $850 in our inventory. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
