Item Description

The famous mines at Charcas, Mexico have produced some of the finest danburite specimens in the world and this is an outstanding large example. The striking, CABINET spray of diverging crystals have classic, gemmy, chisel terminations with translucent bodies. Second generation overgrowth with smaller crystals is nifty accent. Complete all-around the frontal display view is totally pristine. The large crystals are pristine on the backside, too, and there is only a bit of periphery wear at the base. Amazing for such a large and dense specimen. For this locality and species, this is a superb and dramatic large specimen. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
