Item Description

This old, historic New York locale is known for well-formed orthorhombic danburite crystals. A sharp, slightly translucent, mottled tan, 2.2 x 1.3 x 1.2 cm blocky prism is jauntily set atop the solid matrix of danburite crystal sections and massive danburite. One edge of the large crystal is dinged, which is acceptable for an old-timer. The A.E. Foote label attached to the base dates from 1877-1890, per Wendell Wilson of The Mineralogical Record (see AE Foote bio archive on their site). Our thanks to Wendell.
