Danburite

Item Description

Here is a big cluster of large, razor-sharp Danburite crystals from Charcas, San Luis Potosi in Mexico, the premier locality for this species. This statuesque cluster consists of two dominant crystals in the front and a subordinate one in the back. These super lustrous, bright white, translucent crystals are sharply formed with the traditional, chisel-like terminations and distinct striations parallel to their length. The two tall crystals stand at 9 cm each and the smaller one that crosses in back is 7.5 cm. All three crystals are perfectly terminated and show some evidence of multiple, parallel growth near and at the termination. The area right at the termination of these crystals is somewhat gemmy. Numerous, small, glistening, 3 mm to 1 cm, slender Danburite crystals are randomly clustered in the area between the two with a few on the front, sides and back. Several white, translucent 0.5 and 1 cm Calcite crystals are found in the area amidst the two big Danburites as well as on the right hand crystal. This is a stately piece with great presentation.
