Item Description

Cylindrite belongs to a small group of minerals that from a morphological standpoint makes them some of the most interesting species you'll find. As its name implies, the crystals form in "cylinder" or "tube" shapes, which is incredibly rare to see in a metallic mineral. It's one of most unique species in all of the mineral kingdom. This small cabinet is a wonderful, rare rich specimen of this rare lead, iron, tin, antimony sulfosalt, filled with lustrous, metallic, dark silvery colored crystals measuring up 8 mm on matrix. This piece is from the Santa Cruz Mine in the town of Poopo, which is the type locality for the Cylindrite. A great opportunity for any collector to own a species rarely seen for sale in today's market. I have not seen any new specimens of Cylindrite on the market in several years (this particular piece was mined in the late 1990s), and the top pieces from Poopo are certainly the best in the world.
