Item Description
This historic German lead mine, closed in 1913, produced some of the world's finest pyromorphite specimens. It also produced far fewer fine cerussite specimens, such as this extraordinary specimen. The very sculptural elongated translucent cyclic-twin has typical adamantine lustre with several striking broad blades with serrated edges. Complete all-around and in great shape, for such a fragile species. The base of one of the larger blades is dinged and the tip is very gently bruised. Accompanied by three very old labels, two in German. The brown label is from the New York State Museum, and probably is from a well-known George Kunz collection they bought. It is illustrated in the MINDAT Photo Gallery for the locale. A fascinating rare style old cerussite from the renowned Friedrichssegen Mine. Valued $1000
