Item Description
A superb and rare cerussite specimen from the Broken Hill Mine of Zambia. A striking, 2.2 cm, glassy, cyclic twin is aesthetically perched on gossan matrix. The stout, gem-like crystal, with classic six-sided symmetry is pleasing shades of smoky and light brown. This fabulous crystal is very nearly pristine, with only barely noticeable, infinitesimal edgewear. Old material from this famous, but less well-known mine, that closed in about 1989. VERY rare on the market. I have never seen another for sale. Dr. Korowski worked at the mine in the 1960s-80s and co-authored the 1980 Mineralogical Record article on the locale. Ex J.P. Gliddon and Martin Lewadny Collections
