Item Description

It's quite difficult to find any specimens of Cyanotrichite from the Vieja Mine in Atacama Desert of Chile. These pieces were mined many years ago, and simply are not seen on the market. This attractive thumbnail specimen features wonderful electric blue colored acicular needles of Cyanotrichite which are associated with lovely velvety green Malachite on matrix. We have photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. If you love minerals from Chile, or you're a fan of colorful secondary ore minerals, this attractive thumbnail would be a great pickup for your collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8669). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
