Item Description

A gorgeous cornflower-blue velvety carpet of tufts of cyanotrichite needles covers the top of this colorful combination specimen. Cyanotrichite is a fairly rare copper, aluminum, sulfate. The spheres are composed of acicular crystals that have aggregated together. A thick vein of contrasting green brochantite needles courses through two sides of matrix. Extensive crusts of cyanotrichite add even more color! A very colorful combination specimen from a now-closed mine that actually lies within the current boundary of the Grand Canyon National Park - Off limits for over 20 years, to collectors. Rarely do these turn up now in older collections. Ex Dennis Mullane Collection.
