Item Description
Here we have an exceptionally rare specimen of Currierite, a sodium calcium magnesium aluminum hydrated/hydroxy arsenate, named after beloved mineral dealer Rock Currier in 2016. Mindat.org notes that this species is a "natural pure hydroxyarsenate, which is relatively rare". This piece is from the type locality, which just happens to be the ONLY locality in the world where Currierite has been found. This miniature specimen hosts beautiful micro white radial "sprays" of Currierite associated with stark blue Lavendulan and a bit of soft beige colored Gypsum on matrix. The piece is best seen under magnification, but you can clearly see the coverage of Currierite with the naked eye, making it a fairly rich example. If you collect rarities, minerals from the type locality, or you're just a fan of Rock Currier, and you'd love to have a piece of the mineral named in his honor, do not miss out on this very rare chance to get a great example for your collection.
