Item Description
The Ilimaussaq alkaline complex of Greenland has produced some of the rarest and most unusual mineral species in the world. This sculptural specimen hosts two very rare sulfosalts for which Nakalak Mountain is the Type Locality. Four smudges, to 1.1 cm, of red cuprostibite (a very rare Cu-Sb-Tl alloy) and lead-gray chalcothallite (an ultra-rare Tl-Cu-Fe-Sb sulfosalt, unique to the Ilimaussaq) are noted on the aegirine matrix. Not pretty to look at, but an extreme combination rarity from this famous locale. Ex Matioli Collection and valued at $400-500.
