Cuprite with Hentschelite (rare combo)

Cuprite crystals from the Great Australia Mine are typically small, but this specimen features an exceptionally large crystal for this local (the larger is 1 cm across), accompanied by crystallized, ball-shaped dark green hentschelite—a rare copper-iron phosphate mineral. The cuprite crystals are perched atop the matrix in a way that creates an ideal, aesthetically pleasing presentation. Three smaller cuprite crystals rest on the large crystal, perfectly balanced to enhance the overall aesthetic. The specimen's post-forming oxidized layer adds an iridescent, yet under strong backlight, the deep red color of the cuprite still shines through.
