Item Description
Tiny, somewhat velvety, bright blood red color acicular crystals of Chalcotrichite (the fibrous variety of Cuprite) on matrix from the famous Cole Mine (Cole Shaft) in Bisbee. We've only seen a few Chalcotrichites from this locality, and while this is best viewed under magnification, it's a very worthwhile specimen for anybody who collects copper minerals, Arizona minerals or hard to find specimens from historic localities. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1863). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive display specimen from this classic locality.
