Cuprite var: Chalcotrichite (classic locality)

Item Description

We rarely have specimens of Chalcotrichite (the acicular variety of Cuprite) from the New Cornelia Mine in Ajo, Arizona to offer. If I think about it, I doubt we've had even a dozen of them over the years. This piece features an attractive group of strong metallic red color, somewhat matted, "needle"-like crystals of Chalcotrichite on matrix. A cool locality specimen from this well-known Arizona locale. The little crystals are best seen under magnification, and we've photographed them with a macro lens to better illustrate the quality.
