Item Description
Cuprite (variety Chalcotrichite) is a special needle-like crystalline growth of this copper mineral and is rare from Tsumeb - or anywhere. This piece features "tuft"-like groups of electric red, acicular "needles" of Chalcotrichite nestled in vugs on the underlying matrix. While copper was common as ore at Tsumeb, these kinds of copper minerals for collectors are uncommon. A classic, choice, and hard-to-find example of the Chalcotrichite from the great Tsumeb Mine, this was formerly in the collection of Carlton Davis. (note from Rob - Carlton started me on fine minerals when I was 12, in Ohio. This was from his Tsumeb suite!)
