Item Description

A vivid specimen with METALLIC, lustrous, red crystals of the Chalcotrichite variety of Cuprite. Chalcotrichite needles are always attractive, and it is hard to pick the exact adjective for them. Shimmering, glistening, scinitillating - take your pick. From Bisbee, this is certainly an old piece, probably pre-1950s, and would be considered an extremely rich example for both the species and locality. Most specimens are small, and somewhat less show-worthy. This piece has large patches of the acicular, needle-like Chalcotrichite crystals all over much of the surface, though. On both sides. Ex. Ward Collection. Originally priced at $500.
