Cuprite (rare locality specimen)

Item Description

A very hard to find Cuprite specimen from the Dexing Cu-Mo-Au ore field in Jiangxi, China featuring several sharp, well-formed, lustrous, deep silvery colored metallic octahedral crystals on oxidized matrix. The majority of the crystals measure a few mm across, but there is one solitary crystal on one side that measures 7 mm. When backlit, the Cuprites show a deep crimson metallic hue internally. Most of the crystals are in good shape, but there are some areas of roughness in a few spots. This is the first Cuprite specimen that I can remember having to offer from this locality, and the label on the accompanying box states that it was acquired in August of 2004, so it's well over 20 years old.
