Item Description

A classic example of the beautiful old time Cuprites from the famous locality at Wheal Gorland in Cornwall. Sharp, rich red, metallic, octahedral crystals of Cuprite up to 7 mm can be found all over the underlying native Copper matrix. It should be noted that since the primary production ceased at Wheal Gorland in 1851, this piece is well over 150 years old! We actually acquired the piece from an old East Coast collection, and it comes with a wonderful historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address it dates to 1946-1957,
