Item Description
A beautiful old cabinet sized specimen from this classic locality in Cornwall. The label indicates the piece was collected in the old Levant Mine workings, which is one of the most important localities in Cornwall. The piece is filled with hundreds of micro crystals of dark reddish-black Cuprite, sitting atop a layer of Native Copper, with a bit of attached oxidized matrix. The crystals are best seen under magnification. The label also states that the specimen was acquired in 1996 from a miner named Peter Couch. You can only find this kind of material in old collections, and Cuprite specimens from the Levant Mine are incredibly rare on the market.
