Item Description

My favorite part about this specimen is that the label refers to it as a "new find" from 1958! I love the history behind this piece, to know the date of this discovery was important enough for her to write on the label. With that said, this small cabinet features many small (1 mm) crystals of textbook, razor-sharp, deep oxidized red color dodecahedra of Cuprite sitting atop white to buff colored Calcite on matrix. Beautiful material and really fun to look at with a loupe or under the microscope. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#988). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
