Item Description

A impressive and extremely rich large cuprite specimen from the famous mines of Liskeard. The piece is essentially solid octahedral cuprite crystals, with nifty scattered brecciated quartz fragments and a bit of matrix. The splendent metallic crystals, to 5 mm, glow wine-red with translucence, when frontlit or backlit. A bit of bruising is noted, but certainly has negligible impact on this historic old-timer from a most collectible locale. This piece was almost certainly collected in the early to mid-1800s. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock and comes with an older German label. Valued at $2000 and worth it, for quality and richness. Rich ore at 803 grams or 1.8 pounds.
