Item Description

This well-known large open pit copper, gold, molybdenum and silver mine has produced arguably the world's finest cuprite specimens along very fine gemmy calcites. Mineral specimens are, in general, uncommon and copper specimens are rare. This large, sculptural, hefty native copper specimen is composed of euhedral to massive copper with a reddish-brown cuprite coating. The impressive 3-sided floater piece hosts several areas covered with splendent metallic wine-red to oxided black cuprite and is colorfully accented with areas of green malachite. This is a rich and very uncommon large combination ore specimen from this locality. Mass is 1612 grams or 3.6 pounds. I have seen very few such large, rich ore pieces survive from mining at this locality.
