Item Description

A beautiful thumbnail from Tsumeb featuring several fine quality, very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, deep blood red colored cuboctahedral crystals of Cuprite measuring up to 6 mm on oxidized matrix. Very good quality all around and fun to view up close! A great specimen of this classic material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5077) mounted in an old Willard "Perky" Perkin box. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
