Item Description
This is an impressive full-sized cabinet specimen from the limited 2018 discovery which produced these eye-catching and fine quality Cuprites from the Chengmenshan Mine in China. This robust piece is filled with dozens of sharp, lustrous, metallic dark silvery-red Cuprite octahedrons, measuring up to 6 mm, covering the display side of the underlying oxidized matrix Most of the crystals are in good shape, but there are some obvious rough spots here and there. The textbook octahedral Cuprites have a deep cherry-red glow when strongly backlit. The combination of the luster, sharpness, gemminess and the fact that the crystals are on matrix makes this a very desirable example of the species. Cuprite specimens of this richness and quality are not that common from this super large multiple open pit Cu-Mo-Au deposit. Priced in our inventory at $1,500.
