Item Description
Many of the Cuprite specimens you'll see from the Ray Mine are the acicular variety Chalcotrichite, and fine crystals are certainly rare in my experience. This beautiful thumbnail features one of the best quality Cuprite crystals I've seen from the Ray Mine in terms of sharpness, luster and overall form. What makes the piece even more enticing is that it comes with a label from Arizona Minerals that states it's from the Pearl Handle Pit, a specific locality that it much rarer and important than just the "Ray Mine". A superb, razor-sharp, lustrous, metallic, 6 mm octahedral crystal (with slight cubic modifications) of Cuprite is beautifully perched atop the oxidized matrix to create a showy and fine quality specimen. With a bit of backlighting, a deep blood red color is revealed within. The crystal is undamaged on the display side, but there is an area on the back where it grew against the pocket wall. If you collect oxides, secondary ore minerals or thumbnails, don't miss out on this beauty.
