Item Description

A very showy old-time cuprite-coated copper specimen from the famous mines at Bisbee. Rust-red cuprite coats both sides of this thin plate of totally crystallized copper. The "front" of the fan is composed entirely of dendritic sprays of sharp spinel-twins, while the back is nearly entirely nubby tetrahexahedral crystals! Weird chemistry here! This is called "rail" copper for the thin-bedded form of the aesthetic piece. Excellent and uncommon, two-sided crystallized copper from this historic locale from the Simpson and Mullane Collections. Undoubtably old material
