Item Description

Cuprite is fairly well-known from Tsumeb and this is an excellent display specimen of this classic material. This small cabinet piece hosts many fine quality, well-formed, sharp, dark red colored octahedral crystals measuring up to 6 mm on matrix. The crystals are best seen under magnification, but they look great up close. With a bit of backlighting, you can get some fiery red color to come through some of the smaller crystals. While copper was a common ore at Tsumeb, there isn't as many Cuprites as one would expect from this prestigious locality. Excellent condition all over, and a very worthwhile example of this highly sought after material.
