Cuprite and Quartz (old classic) ex Whitmore

Item Description

Sharp, lustrous, brick-red, cuprite octahedrons to 4 mm are richly clustered on this classic and old-time specimen from the famous Wheal Gorland of Cornwall. The matrix is interesting, bedded, granular quartz crystals. Primary production at Wheal Gorland was over by 1851! Some bruising is noted, but this remains a highly representative and rich copper ore specimen from this historic locale. Ex Roland Thomas Collection # 572 and then Robert Whitmore collection
