Cuprite and Malachite with Calcite

Cuprite is rare from the Musonoi Mine, and on its own makes for a desirable specimen, but add in both Malachite and fluorescent Calcite and this becomes an exceptional combination. The sub-metallic Cuprite is 1 cm on edge, with these edges attractively beveled. Even tucked down in the pocket, it is still possible to get enough light on the Cuprite octahedron so that it begins to show its deep-red nature. That characteristic is always sought-after in Cuprites. Adjacent to the Cuprite is a 1.5 cm Malachite spray. The green, acicular needles form an well-shaped fan that provides excellent contrast to the Cuprite in form and color. Both sit in a pocket of crystalline Calcites. Lustrous and gemmy, these Calcites fluoresce a moderate pinkish-orange that adds yet another facet to the piece's interesting and fine aesthetics.
