Cuprite

Item Description

A great Cuprite thumbnail specimen from this sulfide deposit in Russia about 35 km from Kazakhstan border. A very sharp, rather lustrous and incredibly well-formed, metallic, deep blood red group of octahedral Cuprite free of matrix. The piece does not have a visible point of contact, so I'm tenatively calling it a "floater". The Cuprite shows a bit color when strongly backlit. These are going up in value it seems, and I haven't seen any new specimens on the market in a few years.
