Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of Cuprite from Silver City, New Mexico featuring dozens of sharp, well-formed octahedral crystals of a deep red metallic hue, which measure up to about 5 mm (larger crystals can be seen on the back) on matrix. The smaller crystals look great with magnification.
From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
