Item Description
Attractive, intergrown layer of rare, strong mint-green Cuprian Smithsonite from the and now-closed Tsumeb Mine. Rhombohedral in form, the Smithsonite crystals reach up to a generous 1 cm on edge, and the bluish tint gives the coloration just a hint of an 'aqua' look. Good lighting also creates many flashes off the excellent, pearly luster, and the complex, tiered-downward faces add even more detail. The crystals have deep green cores, and distinct, pearly-white outer zones which are unusual, interesting, and appealing. It reminds me of many mint or jello desserts I have seen over the years, and wouldn't this seldom-seen Smithsonsinite variety make a delicious addition to a collection! Better even in person. This is a particular style of both shape and color saturation, that is not often seen for sale, and would date to the 1970s-early 1980s.
