Item Description
Juicy, green, translucent smithsonite botryoids with matte-finish, waxy luster fill a sculptural vug lined with banded apple-green smithsonite on this old-time specimen from the famous 79 Mine. The patches of gray smithsonite add color and contrast. This classic piece was collected in the late 1960s to early 70s. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7303 and acquired from Walt Lidstrom at the Lincoln, Nebraska Show in 1974. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
