Item Description
EXCELLENT combination piece from the great Tsumeb Mine in Namibia. Mint-green Smithsonite, made this attractive color by traces of copper, comprises the entirety of this small-cabinet specimen. The undulating crust is composed of well-terminated microcrystals, which in turn give the surface a noticeable sparkle like newly-driven snow. Irish snow, I supposed. Tucked among these Smithsonite 'dunes' is a well-formed, 1 cm, reticulated snowflake of Cerussite. This twinned habit is one of the most attractive and desired forms of Cerussite, and it sits perfectly on the crust. When backlit, the translucent Smithsonite takes on the eerie and tantalizing look of mammary clouds. Great quality and great aesthetics from Tsumeb.
