Item Description
From the important southwestern-focus collection of Gary Weaver, this is a fine small cabinet specimen of the rare green smithsonite found here in a few pockets of the 1990s. The color is wonderful, and unique in American smithsonites. In fact, I think this color only occurs from here, and Tsumeb sometimes. The intense green is due to copper, which for some reason does not often mix nicely with smithsonite. When it does, it is beautiful. An old American classic, almost never seen for sale today. Valued $900-1200.
