Item Description

Specimens of the distinctive "apple green" Smithsonite the '79 Mine were famous back in the day. It became almost impossible to get, and then over the past decade, a couple of miners went back into the old works and got a modest trickle of new specimens back into the market. The luster is excellent, as is the gemminess. This is from the first "new" find back in the early 1990s here. Subsequent finds did not have the jellylike, intense saturated color you see here.
