Item Description
Highly translucent to gemmy, mint-green (due to traces of copper as the chromophore) Smithsonite from the great, and now-closed, Tsumeb Mine. Hundreds, if not thousands, of 1-2 mm euhedral crystals make up this dense and attractive small-cabinet piece. The glassy luster helps accentuate the attractive color and the interiors, and all together the crystals creating rolling dunes of fresh, sparkly 'green snow'. Cuprian Smithsonite is rare, and this is an aesthetic, representative example of one of Tsumeb's signature species.
