Cuprian Smithsonite

Well crystallized Cuprian Smithsonite from Tsumeb is uncommon and in great demand by collectors. This small cabinet piece features numerous, lustrous and sparkling, bright mint green Cuprian Smithsonite crystal in a large vuggy area in a Cerussite-bearing matrix. Dozens of glassy and transparent to translucent, bright green crystals to 6 mm are intergrown within the vug and display prominently. These lustrous, rhombic Cuprian Smithsonites are moderately intergrown and mounded with distinct crystals, sharp edges and faces resulting in a jagged, geometric and scintillating crystals that line the relatively equant vug. It is an excellent small cabinet Cuprian Smithsonite for this varietal combination of color and shape that is seldom seen. Probably from the early 1970s era and bought contemporary to it coming out, and now rarely seen. A welcome burst of color in any collection!
