Item Description

PLEASE NOTE: This piece came labeled as being "Pisanite" (a hydrated iron sulfate) from the Damar Mine near Murgul, E. Anatolia, Turkey. While Pisanite used to be a valid species, it's now referred to as Cuprian Melanterite. With that said, I can't find a listing of Cuprian Melanterite occurring at any locality in Turkey, so I'm not sure exactly where this piece is from. The piece features soft blue-green colored semi-spherical aggregates of the former "Pisanite" on matrix. A cool rarity for any species collector for a mineral that has been known for over 150 years. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8253). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
