Item Description
A hard to find Cummingtonite specimen from the famous Franklin Mining District in New Jersey. A solid fibrous, greenish-black colored Cummingtonite group is mounted inside of the micro box. We have photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality, but it's small to be sure. Cummingtonite is a rare magnesium silicate that was named after the type locality in Cummington, Massachusetts in 1824. The piece came to Rich Kosnar from his mentor, noted New Jersey collector Pat Gross, and her original plastic mounting box with a hand-written lael accompanies the piece. A cool specimen of this classic and rare material.
