Cuboctahedral Fluorite

Item Description

Glassy, transparent, cuboctahedral, fluorite crystals to 2.8 cm are aestheticaly scattered on the iron oxide-coated, mounded matrix on this classic and excellent specimen from the famous Nikolaevskiy Mine at Dal'negorsk. Most of the fluorite faces are lightly frosted, but a few are stunningly water-clear with great effect. A light contact on the backside of the large octo is out of sight. Found in 2003, according to the label. Valued at $250-300 today.
