Item Description

Simply put, some of the most classic magnetites from North America are those from Balmat, New York. These are some of the most distinctive and eye-catching magnetite specimens in the world due to their cubic habit. This is an impressive fairly large metallic-gray cube with brilliant luster and slightly modified faces. I'm told that these specimens were mined in the early 1990s, and are not common on the market today. Complete all-around. The frontal display face has only two gently bruised corners, which are certainly only a modest detraction. A very fine thumbnail display specimen of this well-known material from New York. Strongly magnetic, as you would expect. Valued by the former dealer at $250.
