Item Description
Cubic cuprite crystals are very rare from Tsumeb, with most crystals being octahedrons or dodecahedrons. This is a significant, old-time, cabinet cabinet copper ore specimen of solid cuprite. Sharp, large, cubic crystals to 7 mm are scattered or clustered on several vuggy faces of this impressive specimen. The cubes glow with cochineal-red color under halogen lighting. Scintillating, silvery-bright microcrystals with blood-red to rust-brown color richly cover all sides of the matrix of massive cuprite. Very rich copper ore! Hefty for its size at 1810 grams or 4 pound. Ex Rob Smith Collection. Valued at $1000
