Item Description
Cubic copper crystals are the rarest and most desirable form for the species. This is a VERY RARE, aesthetic and outstanding combination thumbnail is from this famous old Copper Country mine, renowned for producing the world's largest mass of native copper ever found at estimated 527 tons in 1857! Sadly, little was saved in the way of specimens compared to this weight. This specimen is a sharp, balanced thumbnail matrix exhibiting dramatically atop three clusters of VERY RARE penetration-twinned cubic copper crystals. The amazing thing is this : they are mostly covered with bright silver! The artistically placed clusters rest on a curtain of hackly copper attached to quartz. The dramatic large cluster at the crest is 1.0 cm across. Extremely rare and fine combination specimen, this is one I have always remembered. I bought it from Cal Graeber back in the early 1990s and sold it first in around 1995 to Bob Trimingham. He owned it until recently. It was one thing I never forgot. A killer thumbnail valued at $2000. I have never seen another like it.
