Crystallized Gold (old classic locale)

Item Description

This is a classic and old-time specimen from historic Verespatak (Rosia Montana), Romania and has the distinctive rich, mellow yellow color and crenellated form, that is unique to Rosia Montana. There are two more areas of gold on another side of the pyrite-rich matrix. Excellent and very sculptural material for a mine, that was worked by the Romans. This is undoubtably old material probably from the 1800s. We have nicknamed this striking gold specimen "The Road Runner" for the striking resemblance of the 1.8 x 1.6 cm, microcrystalline gold on the front to the famous Warner Brothers cartoons.
